    Cholesterol 2.0™ "Cholesterol Management System" (updated from version 1.1) is the most innovative and up-to-date resource for comprehensive, systematic and NCEP-compliant Blood Cholesterol Management. The program follows exactly the Clinical Guidelines presented in the Third Report of the National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) ATP-III (May 2001).

    Cholesterol 2.0™ is designed for Physicians (MD) and some other qualified healthcare professionals (RN, PA, NP). The system automates and standardizes personalization, Risk Assessment, Risk Categorization and the generation of Patient-specific Therapeutic recommendations.
    The application runs on the browser, is written in Javascript, HTML and MedML™.




    What functions does it perform?
    Cholesterol 2.0™ incorporates and follows the NCEP Cholesterol Guidelines presented in the ATP-III report. The application automates and standardizes the tasks of CHD Risk Assessment for major risk factors, Framingham Scoring and Metabolic Syndrome. It also automates the generation of Patient-specific Therapeutic recommendations for LDL-lowering therapies, triglyceride, HDL, etc. The program organizes and displays information in the same visual field for easy review and printing.   • What is the Cholesterol Management Tool?
    The Cholesterol Management Tool is ScyMed's new concept. Is a combined reference, productivity and decision-support tool for Blood Cholesterol Management. This integrated resource automates personalization, Risk Assessment and therapeutic recommendations. The tool incorporates two main pages. The input page contains input fields for 22 clinical parameters, Patient data is entered in this page. The output page is the Personal Cholesterol Management Plan. It is displayed in a 2nd browser window, and contains 4 sections (Patient Data, Risk assessment, Risk category and Therapeutic recommendations). The output page may be printed-to-chart. Changes to inputs can be readily done. The output page is quickly and automatically re-computed to display the new data and recommendations.

    What is the CHD Risk Assessment Tool?
    The Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) Risk Assessment Tool automates the task of Risk assessment. The tool generates Patient-specific CHD-Risk assessments for Major Risk Factors and Framingham Point Scores. This tool also incorporates two main pages. The input page contains input fields for 13 clinical parameters. The output page displays the Patient CHD Risk Assessment in a 2nd browser window. The system permits quick and repeated Risk assessments under different scenarios and risk factors.

    Color-coded Normal/Abnormal?
    The Color-coded feature displays abnormal values, out-of-range values and positive risk factors in red color. This is true for both, the Cholesterol tool and the CHD Risk tool.

    This innovative feature allows quick and efficient identification of abnormal or positive data.

    The NCEP Cholesterol Guidelines are those presented in the Third Report of the National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) Expert Panel on Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of High Blood Cholesterol in Adults (Adult Treatment Panel III), Executive Summary.

    Is there a CD-ROM version of Cholesterol 2.0?
    No. ScyMed's Cholesterol 2.0 is only available online at our website (www.scymed.com). It is part of the ScyMed Network (including MediCalculator™ and eH&P™). It is only available by subscription (paid).
