What is Cholesterol 2.0™?
Cholesterol 2.0™ "Cholesterol Management System" (updated from version 1.1) is the most innovative
and up-to-date resource for comprehensive, systematic and NCEP-compliant Blood Cholesterol Management.
The program follows exactly the Clinical Guidelines presented in the Third Report of the
National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) ATP-III (May 2001).
Cholesterol 2.0™ is designed for Physicians (MD) and some other qualified healthcare
professionals (RN, PA, NP).
The system automates and standardizes personalization, Risk Assessment, Risk Categorization and the
generation of Patient-specific Therapeutic recommendations.
The application runs on the browser, is written in Javascript, HTML and MedML™.
What functions does it perform?
Cholesterol 2.0™ incorporates and follows the NCEP Cholesterol Guidelines presented
in the ATP-III report. The application automates and standardizes the tasks of CHD Risk
Assessment for major risk factors, Framingham Scoring and Metabolic Syndrome. It also automates
the generation of Patient-specific Therapeutic recommendations for LDL-lowering therapies,
triglyceride, HDL, etc. The program organizes and displays information in the same visual field
for easy review and printing.
Some of the features include:
individualized Blood Cholesterol Management
color-coded normal/abnormal
automatic CHD Risk Assessment
NCEP-compliant
intuitive interface
Major Risk factors
automatic Framingham Scoring
Patient-specific Therapeutic recommendations
Same visual field formats
organized and standardized
clinical checklists for total quality

What is the Cholesterol Management Tool?
The Cholesterol Management Tool is ScyMed's new concept. Is a combined reference,
productivity and decision-support tool for Blood Cholesterol Management. This integrated resource
automates personalization, Risk Assessment and therapeutic recommendations.
The tool incorporates two main pages. The input page contains input fields for 22 clinical
parameters, Patient data is entered in this page. The output page is the Personal Cholesterol
Management Plan.
It is displayed in a 2nd browser window, and contains 4 sections
(Patient Data, Risk assessment, Risk category and Therapeutic recommendations).
The output page may be printed-to-chart. Changes to inputs can be readily done.
The output page is quickly and automatically re-computed to display the new data
and recommendations.

What is the CHD Risk Assessment Tool?
The Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) Risk Assessment Tool automates the task of Risk assessment.
The tool generates Patient-specific CHD-Risk assessments for Major Risk Factors and
Framingham Point Scores. This tool also incorporates two main pages.
The input page contains input fields for 13 clinical parameters. The output page displays
the Patient CHD Risk Assessment in a 2nd browser window. The system permits quick and repeated
Risk assessments under different scenarios and risk factors.

Color-coded Normal/Abnormal?
The Color-coded feature
displays abnormal values, out-of-range values and positive risk factors in red color.
This is true for both, the Cholesterol tool and the CHD Risk tool.
This innovative feature allows quick and efficient identification of abnormal or positive data.
NCEP Cholesterol Guidelines vs Cholesterol 2.0™?
The NCEP Cholesterol Guidelines are those presented in the Third Report of the National
Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) Expert Panel on Detection, Evaluation and Treatment
of High Blood Cholesterol in Adults (Adult Treatment Panel III), Executive Summary.
These Guidelines are published by:
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES

in any way by the NCEP/NIH/NHLBI.
ScyMed's Cholesterol 2.0™ is not developed for any single pharmaceutical company.
What is the What-if analysis?
"What If" analysis is hypothetical analysis, the advent of computers and
software systems have allowed what-if analysis in other disciplines for years.
Cholesterol 2.0™ enables Physicians to perform "What If" analysis of actual
clinical scenarios of real life patients on a routine basis with ease and reliability.
What is a Medical Decision-support Tool?
Cholesterol 2.0™ is not a diagnostic program, it is a decision-support,
reference and productivity tool. Cholesterol 2.0™ algorithms and contents are
based on the NCEP Cholesterol Guidelines. The application automates the tasks and processing.
Cholesterol 2.0™ saves time, increases accuracy and supports medical decision making.
