Cervical Spine:
ROM
Anterior= 45 degrees.
Posterior= 45 degrees.
Lateral = 45 degrees.
Rotation = 45 degrees.
Adson's maneuver
Patient seated, forearms in supination resting on the thighs. Patient extends the neck and turns
the chin to the side tested. Transient disappearance of the radial pulse (during inpiration)
due to the occlusion of the subclavian artery.
Thoracic Spine:
ROM
Flexion, extension, lateral bending (spinous processes alignment).
Slope of Ribs = 45 degress.
Costal angle = 90 degrees.
Lumbar Spine:
ROM
Flexion (Anterior) = 45 degrees.
Extension (Posterior) = 45 degrees.
Lateral = 30 degrees.
Rotation = 45 degrees.
Straight-leg-raising
Flex the hip with the knee in full extension by raising the foot -Patient supine-, a sharp
pain in the lower back area will arise in sciatic nerve irritation.
